Teen author Emery Rutledge will discuss her latest novel, The Secrets of S. Murdoch, via Zoom at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 18, 2021.
Rutledge is a 16-year-old senior at Hamilton County Collegiate High who lives in Chattanooga with her parents and two brothers. She began writing as a young child and thoroughly enjoys telling stories and creating worlds. Her cat, Max, is her writing partner.
She wrote The Secrets of S. Murdoch through a summer camp called A Novel Idea when she was 13 years old. In this middle-grade YA fantasy novel, 14-year-old Theodore Wood is assigned the task of cleaning out an ancient house after its owner passed away. He considers it a job for a less-experienced member of The Society for the Containment of the Paranormal. But soon, Murdoch House has Teddy and his colleagues firmly ensnared in a mystery that runs centuries deep.
