“Thank you so much, Collegedale Public Library, for partnering with us with this year’s food drive to fill our food pantry! Many families in our community will enjoy the food in the upcoming months.”

– Brandi Dixon

Collegedale Public Library has upheld its mission to enrich lives and build community by providing a welcoming place to read, know, learn, and grow in FY 2022-2023.

Becoming the director of CPL has been an amazing journey. I am deeply honored to continue to serve this incredible community and am fully dedicated to ensuring its continuous growth and success. Restructuring our staffing and raising salaries have enhanced our competitiveness in the job market and as a result, we have assembled a remarkable team that has boosted program attendance and retained customers. It has been an absolute privilege to serve this remarkable community for 27 years!

– Regina Mullins, Library Director

“Learning seems easier for the kids in the Library. Since we began taking the kids to the Library’s nearly daily activities and then working on their school homework afterwards while there, it has shown undeniable increases in their comprehension of concepts and ideas being taught. The kids are also communicating more effectively with us and their siblings. I don’t know what the magic is or how long it lasts, but we’re all enjoying family time at the Library.”

-Nathan McCoy

Summer reading

“Summer presents an opportunity for families and communities to play an active role in ensuring all children can find their story and enjoy the benefits of Summer Reading.”

Deimosa Webber-Bey, Scholastic

Last year’s Summer Reading Program (SRP), “All Together Now,” remained in line with our objective of promoting literacy-based activities. To achieve this goal, we incentivized cardholders of all ages to read for 20 minutes a day for 20 days.

Using the theme of “All Together Now” the Library was transformed into a retro 60s look with colorful decorations and tie-dye shirts for staff. Activities included making friendship bracelets, creating care packs, Storytime with a pediatrician, a Kindness to Animals program with a therapy dog, and a playtime session for toddlers focused on sharing.

“All Together Now” saw an outstanding response with over a thousand registrations and a 50% completion rate. SRP participants tracked their progress through an app or a log bookmark. Completers were rewarded with a book, goody bag, and an entry into a drawing for prizes including a Kindle Fire. The Library celebrated the conclusion of SRP with a community wrap-up party.
